Radiesse

How Is It Performed?

Radiesse is a type of dermal filler that plumps and fills up the skin. Unlike Hyaluronic Acid fillers,

like Juvederm and Restylane, Radiesse is not a gel, but a particulate stimulant. Radiesse is

made up of tiny, microscopic particles of calcium hydroxyapatite dissolved in a suspension.

These little particles act as a “biological stimulant” for your body to make collagen around the

particles, and this collagen plumps up and smooths wrinkles. This ingredient forces the body to

create more collagen when injected into the deeper layers of the skin. This primary ingredient is

the active ingredient held within a gel formulation, and once injected into the skin, it delivers

some immediate plumping effects. The plumping effect will diminish in the days following your

treatment as your body absorbs the saline solution, but your body will react to the CaHA by

increasing collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin.

The procedure is ideal for those who experience deflation and sagging in the facial area. By

providing collagen and structural volume to the sunken regions of the space. Radiesse

treatments will restore the skin’s elasticity, smooth fine lines, and will instill a glowing, youthful

appearance.

Who is a Candidate?

If you are over the age of 21 and want to address fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, or volume

loss in the lower half of your face, you may be the perfect good candidate for this anti-aging

injectable. Women who are pregnant or nursing will not qualify for the treatment and those who

are allergic to the filler formula.

The Injection Process:

The Radiesse treatment process is quick and simple. The entire appointment should take about

an hour to complete, even if you want to treat multiple areas of your face or your hands. Before

beginning the treatment process, an injector will apply a topical numbing solution to help

maintain comfort throughout the treatment.

A series of quick and virtually painless injections will then be made with a very thin needle or

cannula. You’ll see an initial plumping effect post-treatment that will fade in the days that follow

your appointment, but know that incredible results are well on their way. Full results will be

visible within 4-6 weeks post injection ad can last anywhere from 12-18 months.

Post-Treatment Care:

There is no downtime associated with this cosmetic injectable, but you will be asked to avoid

some specific environments and activities to help ensure the best results.

Radiesse:

What can I expect after treatment?

Immediately following a treatment session with RADIESSE dermal filler redness, bruising or

swelling may occur in the treatment area. These signs usually go away in a short period and are

generally mild in nature. An ice pack may be applied to the treatment area to help reduce

swelling. For approximately 24 hours after treatment:

• Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area.

• Do not apply makeup.

• Avoid extensive sun or heat exposure.

After you leave the office, you may experience redness, bruising or swelling for a few days. Not

all patients experience these, but please note that such effects can occur and are not out of the

ordinary for such a treatment. You may be able to feel the area where RADIESSE dermal filler

was injected for some period after injection. Over time, the injected area will feel more and more

like your own tissue.

How quickly can I get back to my daily activities?

Most patients feel comfortable going back to their normal activities immediately after treatment

with RADIESSE dermal filler

How many treatments are required?

Your doctor will decide with you the number of treatment sessions and the amount of

RADIESSE dermal filler you will need at each treatment session. Generally, significant changes

may be achieved in a first treatment. A touch-up may be required to achieve optimal results.

Without touch-up injections, how will my skin look?

Your skin will begin to gradually look like it did before treatment as you near the end of the time

period RADIESSE dermal filler usually lasts. Periodic touch up injections will help you maintain

the look you have after treatment.

What other things do I need to know?

The Microspheres in RADIESSE dermal filler can be seen

in X-rays and CT Scans. It is very important that you inform your doctor and other health care

professionals that you have RADIESSE dermal filler injected in your face. Even though

RADIESSE dermal filler can be seen in X-rays and CT Scans, there is not a high risk that it

would cause your doctor concern, as long as s/he knows that you have had RADIESSE dermal

filler injected in your face.
