PRP also commonly known as the Vampire Facial Therapy has been one of the more popular
procedures within the Medi-spa industry. Prp delivers fast results and amazing healing time
alongside providing the highest quality of collagen stimulation. It is an amazing skin rejuvenation
treatment that can be combined or added to any surgical or non-surgical procedure. This
procedure allows us to use the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) from our own blood to stimulate
new collagen and to promote faster healing. Depending on the size of the area being treated,
blood is drawn from the client into a sterile vial, the platelets are then separated from our own
red blood cells through a centrifuge machine, and then are re-injected or topically applied to the
area of concern.
How Does It Work?
PRP contains many growth factors, and when it is applied to any traumatized area of the body, it
immediately stimulates our collagen synthesis process. This allows for faster repair of the
tissues. The PRP facial can also be beneficial for people who have wrinkles, sun damage, or
scars. By placing PRP back into the skin, cell proliferation is encouraged. This leads to an
increase in elastin and collagen production. As a result, the skin will look tighter, fuller, and
smoother.
This treatment is popularly known to work in conjunction with microneedling
treatments, also referred to as the ‘Vampire Facial’. However, it can be added as a booster to
any ablative treatment such as micro laser peels, skin resurfacing treatments, and acne scar
removal treatments to name a few. Platelet Rich Plasma can be applied directly onto the skin
after an ablative treatment and can also be injected under the skin to promote rejuvenation for
volume loss, for fine lines and wrinkles.
PRP has also been proven to help stimulate hair growth
for those clients who are experiencing thinning of hair or hair loss. Whether Platelet Rich
Plasma is injected into the body or topically applied to the skin, it never fails to deliver
fast-acting results.
Avoid scrubbing or wiping your face vigorously for the first 6 hours.
Stay away from substances that disrupt platelet activity, the healing process or both.
They include the following:
Pain relievers called “NSAIDs,” blood thinners, steroids, some antidepressants,
some antibiotics, antihistamines and other medications
Extremes of temperature also interfere with inflammation and PRP action, so you must
avoid them in the first 24-48 hours after your vampire facial. They can take the following form:
Protect your skin actively from infection or irritation for a few days. Potential causes include:
Avoid sun exposure, or use sunscreen if you have to go outdoors.
When sleeping, lie on your back with your head raised to minimize pressure and bruising
on your face.
Adherence to the aftercare regimen helps ensure the best cosmetic results.
